BigilTeaser: The promo of Thalapathy Vijay’s sports drama to release on THIS date?

Since the film marks the reunion of director Atlee and Vijay after Mersal, the expectations are sky-high from Bigil. Nayanthara has worked with Vijay in Sivakasi and Villu in the past and this will be her third collaboration with the actor

Right from the first look to the music, Thalapathy Vijay’s Bigil is making the right noise among the audience and we are sure that it will be blockbuster at the box office. While the film is set to hit the screens on October 25, the fans can’t hide their excitement for the teaser of the film as they trended #BigilTeaser on Twitter. Some of them even posted the screenshots of Archana Kalpathi and Gayathrii Reddy’s insta stories saying that it will come out at 6 pm in the evening.

Since the film marks the reunion of director Atlee and Vijay after Mersal, the expectations are sky-high from the film. Nayanthara has worked with Vijay in Sivakasi and Villu in the past and this will be her third collaboration with the actor. While the film is still in the production process, it has already achieved a huge milestone by cracking the satellite rights deal with a leading channel worth Rs 50 crore. Well, this a huge price for a regional film and the superstardom of Thalapathy Vijay is definitely the reason behind it.

The film also stars Vivek in a key role, who is known for working in films like Sivaji, Run, Saamy and many others. There were reports that Michael will be the character of Thalapathy Vijay in the film but the makers have not confirmed it yet. Bigil is bankrolled by AGS productions. It will clash with Karthi’s Kaithi and Vijay Sethupathi’s Sanga Thamizhan at the box office during Diwali.

Box office round up September: Bollywood delivers 2 super-hits and 3 flops in this month

Just like 2018, 2019 has turned out to be a month, where the audience is preferring content over star power. Talking about the month of September, it started on a promising note with Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore, which showed excellent trend at the box office due to positive word of mouth and is still going strong with Rs 135 crore and counting. Featuring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Varun Sharma, Prateik Babbar and others, the college drama has garnered repeat value among the audience, which made it a box office winner.

In the next week, we again witness a money-spinner in the form of Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha’s Dream Girl, which also had Vijay Raaz, Annu Kapoor and Manjot Singh in key roles. The mid-budget film has already crossed the Rs 120 crore mark and is now heading to beat the collections of Badhaai Ho to emerge Ayushmann’s biggest hit of his career. But post these two films, Hindi cinema failed to entice the audience to cinema halls as Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff’s Prassthanam, Dulquer Salmaan-Sonam Kapoor’s The Zoya Factor and Karan Deol and Sahher Bambba’s Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas turned out to be huge disappointments at the ticket windows. None of them managed to even cross the Rs 10 crore mark and were 1-week affair in the theatres.

Well, October is one crucial months for Bollywood due to the festival of Diwali and since we have all biggies lined-up like Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff’s War, Priyanka Chopra-Farhan Akhtar’s The Sky Is Pink, Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol’s Housefull 4, Taapsee Pannu-Bhumi Pednekar’s Saand Ki Aankh and Rajkummar Rao-Mouni Roy’s Made In China, we are sure that a huge chunk of the audience will enter the cinema halls and will make box office rich like anything.

Chhichhore spin-off on the cards? Tushar Pandey aka Mummy reacts on the same [Exclusive]

Chhichhore is turning out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. It has already grossed more than Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office. The audience just cannot get enough of the film that stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Naveen Polishetty, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Prateik, Varun Sharma, Saharsh Kumar Shukla and Tushar Pandey in lead roles. BollywoodLife spoke to Tushar Pandey who played Mummy in the film. Describing what he loved about his character, Tushar said, “I feel Mummy had one of the best arcs in the film. He was the middle-class guy studying engineering in the hope of a better future. Mummy had that aspirational quality that everyone could relate to. And his character was the only one with reference to a family except Sexa’s (Varun Sharma) whose dad comes to the hostel for a while. Everyone has loved the film and my character too. The maximum compliments I am getting is for the scene where I tell my kid that I love him irrespective of how he fares in his exams.

The film is being watched repeatedly by the audience in the theatres. In fact, some are even demanding sequels and spin-offs of the characters. So, has the team discussed a sequel or spin-off? “I have not heard of anything of that sort yet. But the idea is not a bad one (laughs). It would be fun to have a spin-off on Mummy and the guys (laughs out aloud). If something of that happens, I am sure Nitesh Sir will inform us.” says Tushar.

Tushar is a trained actor and worked meticulously on his character for the film. “The tricky part was the older characters. I put in prep for a couple of months before the shoot to get it right. Nitesh Sir is all for preparations, so we sat down and discussed stuff. I have a theatre background so I enjoy this process immensely,” states Tushar. The young actor says how everyone was equal on the sets. “Not once did Shraddha Kapoor or Sushant Singh Rajput behave like they were ‘stars’ of the film. The writing was clear, it was about all the characters. We achieved so much organic chemistry as we were on the same page,” says Tushar.

The film has made Rs 150 crore at the global box-office and is a huge hit for Nadiadwala Grandson. We truly hope that they think of a sequel or spin-off with the loveable characters!

John Abraham reveals how he shed his chiseled body for Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran

A new wave of patriotism seems to have taken over the themes of films in India these days. John Abraham-starrer film Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, released in May 2018, clearly falls in the very category. Based on the real incident that led to India’s inclusion in the Big 5 States, the movie is a dramatic revisit to our country’s glorious past. However, the team of scientists and engineers depicted in the movie resembled Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Rajagopala Chidambaram who carried out the historic Operation Shakti under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government; John’s character was a fictional one.

Asked about what training and preparation it took for him to perfect the role of Ashwat Raina, the handsome hunk told a leading tabloid, “I had to go through a lot of research. The character’s name is Ashwat Raina and he’s a junior bureaucrat in the Prime Minister’s Office. So, for that Abhishek said, ‘Even a blind man knows when John Abraham walks. Your physicality is very over-powering. So, you need to deconstruct yourself. You need to stop going to something called a ‘gym’ and eat regular food like a normal human being and live normally‘, which for me, was a big task in itself.

Then, we went into the backstory of the character. ‘What did Ashwat’s parents and grandparents do’, not that we have used it in the film but Abhishek is a NSD (National School of Drama) graduate. So, he thinks differently. He put me through the entire process, and when I kept going through it, and when I saw the film, I realised it was very useful. The extent of workshops that I have gone through for Parmanu has been intense but it’s all being worth it.”

When asked if he had any inhibitions before signing the film, Abraham said, “No… because I did films like Madras Cafe in the past and before that I did lot of films in which I took lot of risk like Water, No Smoking and Kabul Express.

John, star of films like No Smoking, Desi Boyz, Welcome Back recently made his debut as a Marathi movie producer with Savita Damodar Paranjpe. It is a famous Marathi play, adapted into Hindi and Gujarati, that John made into a film.

I think it’s a tragic mistake,’ says Joe Russo on Sony Pictures’ decision to cancel the Spider-Man

Spider-Man fans have been in shock ever since Sony Pictures and Disney could agree on a deal to finance the upcoming films. This has also led to the exit of Tom Holland’s character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As of now, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker cannot return to the MCU. The news is hugely disappointing but people are hoping that the films continue irrespective of the studio. Avengers: Endgame maker Joe Russo has commented on the saga and termed it a tragic mistake on part of Sony Pictures. He was quoted by the Toronto Sun, “It was a tenuous, fraught union throughout the whole process. Stepping back and trying to be objective as possible, I think it’s a tragic mistake on Sony’s part to think that they can replicate Kevin [Feige]’s penchant for telling incredible stories and the amazing success he has had over the years. I think it’s a big mistake.

The character of Spiderman made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Joe and Anthony Russo’s Captain America: Civil War. Tom Holland said in a recent interview, “I’m not shy about expressing how incredible the last five years have been with Marvel. I’ve truly had the time of my life, and in so many respects, they have made my dreams come true as an actor. Sony has also been really good to me, and the global success of Spider-Man: Far From Home is a real testament to their support, skill, and commitment. The legacy and future of Spidey rests in Sony’s safe hands. I really am nothing but grateful, and I’ve made friends for life along the way.”

There is some buzz that Sony Pictures is keen to continue the franchise without the involvement of MCU. We guess we have to wait and watch!

A coach also came home to help me get the dialect right.”
